Matcha Ice Cream (the non-dairy version)
If you are like us and thousands of other lactose in-tolerant people on this planet you will find that you have to make many adjustments to your new non-dairy lifestyle.
Because being lactose in-tolerant is not just a “thing” or a “fad” to do, it is a real lifestyle choice for many.
Eating ice cream was one of our most favorite things to do as a children. But as we grew up we began experiencing pain almost immediately after drinking milk or eat anything with milk products. It took some time to almost fully cut dairy from our diet and ever since we have our bodies have felt so much better.
So, if you love eating ice cream and enjoy eating matcha and don’t want the stomach pains from dairy. Here is a recipe that may satisfy your sweet tooth. 😀
Now you may be thinking what is matcha doing in a smoothie? After trying such a beverage you may end up surprised by the taste and the lasting effects.
Depending on what fruit you mix in and other mix ins, it can be a tasty and very nutritional liquid refreshment.
Here are some ingredients from our favorite matcha smoothie mix→
Mix Banana, blue berry, pineapple, spinach,
little strawberries, and then a ½ teaspoon of matcha,
with a dash of cinnamon,
a teaspoon & a half of honey
then however much almond or oat milk as a liquid base you’d like.
To us, it is a tasty morning energizer to get the day started.
It has a nice fruity taste, adding the spinach gives it a strong green color with a very mild leafy taste. Then, with the umami taste from the matcha is like a cherry on top of the cake.

Another drink you can make with Matcha Powder are matcha lattes.
A matcha latte is a tasty treat for a nice chilly fall day or winter day. Or whenever you feel like. We love using either almond milk, coconut milk or our favorite, oat milk. We prefer oat milk because it gives the latte a smooth taste when mixed with matcha.
Matcha lattes can also be can a very nutritional energy boost beverage.
To make one large cup of matcha latte:
Place 1/2 teaspoon of matcha powder in a small bowl then add a few spoons of hot water
Add up to 2 teaspoons of honey or agave nectar, depending on the sweetness you prefer
Mix with a small whisk until smooth
Add more hot water, about 1/3 cup
Put the bowl aside for a moment
Fill a large cup with 1 cup (8 fl. oz.) of your favorite milk choice
Add the matcha-water mixture to the milk
For hot matcha latte, top your drink with whipped cream of your choice (Dairy or non-dairy)
If you are making cool matcha green tea latte, add a few ice cubes to the mixture
Starbucks Matcha Frappuccino
One of my favorite drinks for Matcha is a frappuchino from Starbucks for us this is a special treat.
We love this drink. If you ever want to sample matcha and not make the plunge of purchasing your own matcha powder, Starbucks is a good place to start.
Starbucks has a very delicious matcha beverage, for us we have to make it a little different than the menu because of our sensitive guts.

Coconut milk, with Frapp Chips, and lite Cream.
If you do not like to use sugar please kindly ask your barista to use agave in replacement of sugar.

Simple 6 Step Matcha Powder Mask Routine
Did you know that matcha powder can be used as a face mask to add to your beauty routine?
It helps reduce inflammation, redness, treats oily skin, improves your complexion, and diminishes the signs of aging. As you can see matcha has many benefits if used consistently. 😀
For me, Yena, using a matcha powder to helps ease my “blooms”. Blooms meaning my acne. I like to think of my acne as lil acne flower blooms. Makes it sound better than a red army taking over the land on my face!
Here is a simple 6 step matcha powder mask routine
1. First and foremost, create the mask. Take one teaspoon or one tablespoon of the matcha powder and put it in a tiny bowl.
2. Then, mix a teaspoon of water into the powder making sure it is nice & liquidy. But not too liquidy.
I personally love to use honey in my masks so mixing a teaspoon to one tablespoon of honey along with the liquidy matcha mixture. I prefer manuka honey because it reduces inflammation locally caused by acne and balances your pH levels. This step is optional.
3. (Probably the most important step) It is vital to wash your face BEFORE this whole process. The reason being is it removes the excess dirt so your skin can absorb the full benefits of your mask!
After you have washed your face now is the time for the facial mask! Yay! 😀
4. Apply the mask! It really does not matter how you apply the mask as long as your whole face (excluding the eyes & mouth) is covered. I usually put more mask on my cheeks & my nose or wherever my most “blooms” are on my face.
5. Leave the mask on for 10-15 minutes. Or until most of the mask has dried.
6. After that, rinse your face with warm water and apply a toner to re-balance your skin. Finish off with any other skincare routine that you may have left!
Some people on YouTube use yogurt if their skin is more dry and some use honey for relieving acne inflammation. Each person’s skin is different so adjust this mask to your liking.
Matcha is an excellent addition to add to your daily diet or beauty routine.
